SOLD

Our campaign was designed to support this film screening. It focused on educating and bringing awareness to the issues of human trafficking and our role in ending it. We partnered with other local organizations fighting human trafficking such as; Not For Sale, A21 and Next Step Ministries, to help extend the reach of our campaign.

Our agency of seven students created multiple experiential marketing events, as well as print and social media to promote the film and encourage discussion of human trafficking.

The first of these events was a kite-making booth held on Main Street at MRU. Kites are an important symbol of freedom in the film SOLD. Students and faculty passing by were encouraged to make a kite, and discuss the issue of human trafficking and their role in ending it.

The kites were used to create an installation piece for our second event; a photo booth. This booth, which was also held on Main Street, used speech bubble props to attract attention and visually voice people's stance against human trafficking. These experiential events lead up to our feature event, the screening of SOLD at The Plaza Theatre. To open the event, Paul Brandt shared personal stories of his experiences fighting human trafficking to educate the audience on this important issue and prepare them for the tone of the film. Attendees provided donations to the foundation in exchange for entrance to the event, and were given a pamphlet on resources to encourage them to take further action against the issue.

The SOLD Flight to Freedom campaign was a collaborative project developed to raise awareness, and to increase involvement in social issues related to the exploitation of vulnerable groups both locally and globally. The SOLD agency team paired up with mentor Paul Brandt and his Buckspring Foundation for a series of events under the E Campaign.

The feature event, a screening of the film SOLD was held at The Plaza Theatre in Kensington on November 8th. The film addresses the issue of human trafficking, specifically of children in India, by capturing the struggle of a young girl named Lakshmi, who falls victim to human traffickers. Through her character, the film emphasizes the struggle for freedom that all human trafficking victims experience.
