Collaboration with the 4th Annual Stephanson-Cooke Violence Prevention Conference

As part of our Stand Up. Speak Out. Step In. event, I was responsible for the communication and organization of our pop-up museum to support the Stephanson-Cooke Violence Prevention Conference. I was the main point of contact between the BIL Campaign group and the conference committee. I attended various meetings with the organizers, conference called the special guest and keynote speaker, Mike Dilbeck, and interacted closely with the committee to communicate ideas and ask for approvals. I worked closely with Cathy Carter-Snell, Carmen Cooper and Nouralhuda Ismail to build our event, to raise awareness about bystander intervention and to support both the education of the attendees of the conference and Mike Dilbeck’s approach to the bystander movement.

30 Calls to Courage Event Curation

One of the unifying aspects of the E Campaign was the creation of a 30 Calls to Courage calendar that encouraged involvement from the MRU community. The calendar included events from all four class agencies, which were structured to help raise awareness for each group’s social issue; sexual violence in sport, marginalization of Indigenous women and human trafficking. Working closely with each of the campaign team leads, Katharine McGowan and Patti Derbyshire, a calendar was created that included an event or task for every day of November that furthered individual’s knowledge on each group’s social issue. The calendar was printed as a billboard and as 12x18 posters, which were mounted on various boards around campus and posted at our event experiences to further engage our audience.
