Social Media

One of my major roles throughout the Call to Courage campaign was creating social media content for the Princesses team. As the media leader I crafted content that would educate the audience about our issues, promote our activities, and encourage others to attend our events. The posts contained a balance of curated and original content which engaged the audience on each platform.

During the screenings for the Princesses TV series, our team needed to make sure that our audience understood the issues surrounding Indigenous cultures and inspire them to change make a change. Episode 07 of the series is about the issue of cultural appropriation. I invited Nikita Kahpeaysewat, a student at MRU, to speak about the history and importance of some of her belongings. I also brought in items that are offensive to Indigenous cultures to show the contrast between traditional and appropriated items.
